Out of the blue I was offered by my parents to go own the coast for a couple of days, decided to go since its been years since I been that the particular area they were going to so I wanted to check the arcades.
Since I'm such a fan of games (and maybe you are too) here are some mini review/impressions of some of the games I saw.
DRIVING -
Outrun 2 SP DX Take Ourun 2, whack it onto 50 inch flatscreens and have the player sit in a pneumatic SD Ferrari set up. Add in two steering wheels for crazy tag in and out driver madness and you got a classic awesome game. Due to the two wheel set up if you are driving alone you can choose to drive UK or US style, with the gear stick being on whichever side you prefer.
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 Unfortunatly the machine had run out of cards so I couldn't save a new car when I played this >< however its more of the same (which is good) from the series but with tons more customisation. Excellent.
SHOOTING -
Razing Storm Take Time Crisis and give it a Gears of War make over. Its good, but nothing terribly brilliant. Lovely recoil though :3
Rambo Its fucking Rambo! Sega got the license back and made one hell of a game. Tons of guys running in to get shot, movie clips and audio from the films, even key weaponary (explosive arrows for example) appear. Best of all when you kill enemies you build up anger and by pressing the second trigger you unleash Rambo's rage. Rambo does his battle cry while his theme music kicks in, the ammo you use suddenly changes to HUGE bullets and if the meters full when you use it Rambo is invincible. Damn fun.
Other -
Guitar Hero Arcade Ughh, Activision whoares it out again. And it uses the horrid GH3 graphic style. Worse still some tracks are classed as "premium" (Knights of Cydonia as an example) and you have to put ANOTHER credit in to play them! Glad I ditched the series for Rock Band so long ago ...
Etc -
H2Overdrive I didn't manage to go on this (Area of the arcade that had closed early ;_; ) but from what I've seen of it I so wanted to play it. Its Hydro Thunder 2, one of the best arcade racers ever. Same sounds and definatly the same coders.
Aliens Extermination Didn't play it. Typical looking on rails shooter. The pulse rifle did however have THREE triggers. One is normal, one is optional stuff and one is just for the flamethrower xD
Let Go Jungle Kept seeing this in multiple arcades, seems to use the Ocean Hunters cabinet, graphics and game engine. Not sure what so special about it that it had to be purchased by so many places O_o
